I have had some old Sidi rain boots for years, but i have found them a bit narrow... i am in the market for a new pair of boots. i have seen Sidi Laguna boots, they look ok, anyone had them?... any other idea would be great?

ATV / Quad bike boots
 

ATV style boots. These offer a good level of protection but are not too stiff or hard for walking around. I wore them for about 3 months straight, walking around cities, camping in Europe this summer just past.

Mine where exactly the same but branded Diadora (same factory i'm sure). An Ebay buy for £50 second hand. They are not rated waterproof but a quick treatment with Nikwax once and they stayed waterproof for the 3 months till we got back.

I've got a pair of TCX infinity Gore tex boots. They're really comfy. The waterproofing isn't bad, but my outer toes do get a little wet after riding for about an hour in rain.

Hope this helps. I've got wide size 12 feet, and the euro 48 size fits very well.

Just bought a new pair of boots myself. Went for typical touring style leather boot because it was a good fit and has the right level of protection (for my riding).

Time will tell how good they are.

Daytona is the way to go. I have the Lady star GTX which make me 2 inches taller (very helpful when you are 5 ft 1) and my husband has the trans open GTX.

waterproof comfortable to ride and walk in. Warm even at highway speed 4 degree c yet comfortable even this summer at 34.

Daytona or Altberg, not the cheapest but IMHO very comfortable. Lots of very positive comments around for both.

Altberg Borego! I've just completed 12,000 km over 28 days, fantastic boot, comfortable, and tough, they are practically unmarked after god knows how many gear changes etc, highly recommended

I'm well chuffed with my Sidi Couriers - well comfy.

That said I haven't had the chance to use any of the above, but they compare very well to my Hein Gericke Tuarag. That said the Tuareg lasted 4 years and I've had my Sidi's for two weeks, and I got them for free so didn't even look at any others.

For the other posters above - could you let us/the OP know what other boots you have used to compare against.

I have had a pair of sidi Canyon boots.

I can only say positives about them. Water proof, comfortable warm.

The buckle recently broke and I was expecting to be charged extortionate rates to replace them (like with most replace ment parts) I was pleased to find they were only £5 (they are probably only £1.50 to make but nether the less I was expecting to be more ripped off than that)

Every one I know only has positves to say about sidi, But then not every one fits every boot.

I've had a pair of these for a year now:

And worn them almost every day - rode to work in them, and kept them on. Superbly comfortable, and proved waterproof thoughout the worst of the UK winter (I ride all year).

Plus point for me was that they don't look too much like bike boots when worn under jeans - hence choosing them in the first place.

I live in my BMW Santiago Boots,daily wear, lasting very comfortable and i have had 3 pairs over 6 years on pair i returned under warrenty because of the silly metal toe protection caused a leak,a bad nail i suppose but there was no problem exchanging for a new pair.they are tough enough to survive a $16.500 crash if that tells you anything about toughness.

Anybody worn or had these before ?

Couple of mates have the TCXs and really rate them. Good solid boots for all seasons and reasons - KTM Adv to BM tourer.

Me, I'm an Altberg convert: I've got a pair of their classic roadster boots that I've worn almost daily commuting for the last 10 years plus some serious outings to Morocco, numerous Euro trips, rattling around Salisbury Plain etc etc. They are such old friends that I had them resoled last year. Sadly the uppers are now starting to crack up, so I reckon maybe 12 months use left. I'll be buying another pair, even though they are maybe a little short compared to the TCXs and leave some shin exposed.

Re the ATV boots further up the thread, they look the part, but a mate bought a pair for the last Morocco trip we did, as a substitute for his full-on MX boots. He found the soles too soft and flexible for serious off-road use. However, as you say, comfortable to walk around in: designed for farmers etc who spend a fair proportion of their time off the quad, so perhaps a fair compromise overlander boot.

The Probiker stuff is sold on getgear website. I have heard that Altberg boots are very good too (expensive, handmade in England) and top performing.

For me SIDI boots are overpriced and usually very narrow fit. The company is Italian but the boots themselves are mainly made in China. The company is therefore taking too much in profit (in my opinion).
