I've never really loaded up a bike with the weight in the front. It makes sense though. Bicycle touring, you always pack your heaviest stuff in the front panniers and things are more stable.
I know there are several brands that make tank panniers. Might be time to investigate. Since my last post I found myself a DR. Comes with 501 miles, a Renzaco saddle and an IMS tank. |

I bought these Teton Cliff cut panniers for a Tiger. They are 10.5" on the left and 10.5 Cliff cut on the right.
Aluminum Pannier Kit - Clif cut with Clif top box 1999-2005 - KLR650 & Adventure Touring Motorcycle Luggage and Aluminum Panniers I crashed the Tiger and then used the boxes on my DR 650. http://bigdon55.smugmug.com/Motorcyc...9_UnDfk-XL.jpg They worked very good and were symmetrical. They were a bit too large for my off tarmac style riding. I changed to Andy Strapz bags on the Happy Trails SU rack and now am running an XChallenge with the Andy Strapz on a Touratech Rack. The only thing I miss with the soft bags, no place to put all the cool stickers! I like stickers! |
