Afam chains
Has anyone had experiences with Afam chains and sprockets? The chains are sold under the name DynaChain with the Afam kits.
I've been offered Afam chain kits here in France as a replacement with a small choice of gearings and I'd like to find out how they compare with DID, for example. ------------------ Salut from Southern France, the bikers' paradise, Peter. |
Afam chains and sprockets are excellent in terms of quality.is a well known brand. In my opinion they are comparable to DID products.

I just broke one !
That is my experience, lucky it only snatched the rollers and not case. It was my fault, I think, cause I took a little stone or something between chain and sprocket, it bended chain and finally it went off. Standard Afam are good for road use and I think Afam and DID is the same. AFAM is the european name of DID if Im right. Though 20 000 kms with Afam 520 O-ring chain is realistic if well maintained. beddhist,
as i wrote you elsewhere a while ago, henri c. is using on his trip a special afam chain (he s sponsored by them). maybe, you can ask him. a friend told me that afam does a special chain kit "life guaranty" : according to him (and he knows a bit, not like me :-) : if you destroy the chain, afam will give you a new one; the sprockets (in french : pignon et couronne) are very strong "unbreakable". the price was around 2000 frf (around 300 euros) when the french franc was still existing. maybe also more info on : http://www.afamusa.com/ or your local dealer hope it helps ... |
