Ammo box centrestand
Will an Ammo box (of a suitable size, of course) double-up as a temporary centrestand for an xt600-weight (180kg'ish) bike, for tackling a puncture on the road? Any experiences, anyone...

Push the bike over against the side stand until the rear wheel comes off the ground and support it under the righthand footpeg bracket. If you do all of the hard work whilst the wheel is on the ground and just remove the spindle and wheel when it's in the air it should be fine. If you're on soft ground just lay the bike on it's side once the nut is off and pull the spindle out. With panniers on the wheel will be well off the ground when it's on it's side.

ammo box
the ammo box, depending on size, eill hold a LOT of weight, as long as the lid is on and the weight is on it vertically. in my experience you can use ammo boxes to hold a landrover up for a short period ( unsafe i know but shortage of bricks at the time!):thumbup1:
