Carrying Crutches
People write in about panniers. I am sketching ideas for carrying crutches. I am out of plaster but can't walk too far. The repairs on my bike should be complete at Dakar Motos by tomorrow evening. I am considering two lengths of plastic pipe, a crutch in each one and fly national flags on the crutches. Anyone have a wiser suggestion?

I suggest castor wheels on the bottom of the crutches and use them as outriggers ,they might help you stay upright on ice .
Or in a sheath on the front forks much like the WW2 Harley 45cu inch military bikes , ready for a quick draw . Whatever you decide ,stay safe ! |
Don Quijote Perhaps?
I'd suggest full Knight's Armor adorned with the Big Christian red and white flag held high on one crutch....the other should be used as your Jousting staff to ward off oncoming trucks!
Best of good health Simon. I'm very glad to see you are on crutches and NOT a cane. Having been educated in orthopedic matters with direct experience...the best Physical Therapists tell me to stay on crutches....do not use a cane. A cane stresses everything else (hips, ankles, knees, back) and will have you walking like a drunken Don Quijote...forever. So stay with the crutches, do your stretching and strength training twice a day...work hard to regain ROM (range of motion) even it it seems impossible...it's not. Massage is great, hot pools, whatever. Cheers and stay safe! Patrick :scooter: with the $200,000 broken leg (full of very expensive Titanium) |
how about strapping them along the side of the bike with velcro or bungee cords, like the Chileans do with their skis, brazilians carry their surf boards like that as well, they add a hook at the back of the bike to lean the boards on .In your case under the panniers.....Hope you don't get wet, the forecast is for more rain till saturday:stormy:
