Large Petrol Tank
Trying to get a feel for the dispersion of petrol stations in Asia. Turkey - Iran - Pakistan - India - S.E. Asia - Cina (Beijing). The Autonomy of the bike is about 230-250 miles on a 25 l tank. Do I need to put on the larger plastic tank 41l (Touratech) or 55l (Acerbis). Any riders out there been through there have any comments or advice?

Andre,
I haven't been through the area, but know lots of people who have, and none that I know of are using 55 litre tanks. I would recommend against a tank of this size, as the handling is very adversely affected with this much fuel on board. A 41l should be plenty. If you should need more - the once in a million time - you should be able to find plastic bottles to carry more in and figure out a way to strap it on. If it's that far to the next stop, others will have the same problem, and there WILL be fuel containers available. I used a 40l in Africa and South America, and it was plenty big enough. Our next trip will be the same as you are talking about, and I'm looking for a 35litre Heinrich tank to put on in place of my 40l Heinrich! ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
