rear rack-XR650L
Hi, I'm planning a trip around Sth America early 2002 and am looking for a cheap rear rack for my XR6550L.
As am in New Zealand, cost of buying from XR's Only or similar is prohibitive. Anybody seen any plans on the net for making your own, suggestions for mounting points etc? Any help you can offer would be great. Thanks, Nomad |

I am on vacation right now, but when I return I can send detailed photos of my rack - I got a rack from Happy-trails for my XR650L that's very good quality. Basically though, it attaches at the passenger footpeg mounts and at the rearmost fender bolt on the subframe. I think that it will be necessary to reinforce the subframe though. I haven't taken mine on a rough off-road journey yet, so I haven't bothered to reinforce my subframe just yet. I haven't seen anyplans but the AMH has some good advice for building a rack, and in the Honda tech forum, there's some discussion of how a guy built a rack for his XR600R.
