Searching for a versatile tank bag / backbag

Hello HUBB,

as this is my first post I hope I am in the correct section.

I am going to do a 3 week tour with my Transalp RD10 in Europe this year, but also plan to go to South America (probably for 1 year) maybe with a CRF250L / XR190. So I try to find a tank bag for those upcoming trips that fits smaller and "bigger" (650cc) bikes.

I don't have any experience with tank bags so far, but I really think it can be handy if I can use the tank bag as a backbag as well. I also want to do a bit of trekking in south america (1-3 day) or run around the cities. So it would be nice to detach the tank bag easily and walk around with it.

Something that is also on my mind, is hydration during the trip. So I would like to have an option for a hydration bladder in this tank bag to stay properly hydrated during driving / hiking.

In terms of space I need to fit my basic stuff: passport, money, power banks, camera gear (sony 6* Series or maybe Fuji XT-3 with lenses) and some miscellaneous stuff I need quick access to (you name it). It would be nice if the tank bag has a channel for cables as well, so I can charge during the drive.

Of course it would be awesome if the tank bag is waterproof somehow.

The only bags I have found so far, which come close to these requirements are the Moto Mosko Nomad, the Shad Zulupack SW22M and maybe the Enduristan Sandstorm 4H with some extra straps to carry everything.

I wanted to ask if you have experience with one of these bags, or can give me advice about any other product you're happy with. Or you tell me that I neither need a tank bag which can be a backbag with hydration because it is completely unnecessary. Everything helps :scooter:

Greetings Chris

The Mosko Moto Nomad does that well. It is a great tank bag and hydration bladder, as well as a good backpack. That's the design. It isn't very large, but I've used it both ways and found it works well. It is almost like an organizer for your motorcycle. There are probably other options out there, but it is very well built and I've not found another that works as well for both those uses.

Compromise

Personally, I've never found any luggage that is that adaptable.
I'm not saying such things don't exist, but that I've always found them to be a compromise that really fails to fulfil either role well.

I'd also look at Wolfman luggage if I were you. Their explorer lite tank bag can be fitted with shoulder straps via removal fastex clip connectors for carrying around. I also like the look of the Mosko Moto gear, but haven't tried one yet. My main concern was that the Nomad didn't have any compartment large enough for the camera gear I wanted to carry (XT2 with a few lenses). Maybe others have fit their camera gear in a Nomad and can provide some pictures or comments on this?
