Any updates on good spotlights ?
I had a really good set from Zen (I forget the name, ........... industries, I think) but they don't seem to stock them anymore.
A lot on the maket just seem to be intended as making your bike visable to other traffic, rather than giving really good forward illumination at night.
I'm not a world traveller, I live in the countryside where street lights are rare and mud on the road is the norm.

Zen Overland is the outfit I was trying to remember, but cannot make sense of their webface site,
and of course the lights are "Rigid Industries" still not cheap, and not available at present, but they'll let me know.

Any reccomendations of lights that are as good or better are welcome

spot on

I have Rigid Ignite they are small and have high and low beams Careful what you order or buy they have a broad beam and a spot beam
I have the spot beam they are powerful and very light they come with a bolt on Gopro mount and can be used with a GoPro adhesive mount , There are many spots to choose from But I see the rigid as high quality and Pricey
I have used one on my helmet GoPro mount occasionally with a quick connect harness I made for this purpose for night riding on the back roads , there is nothing like having lite where you want it to be

I have used Baja Designs Squadrons - a wide cornering version which has a good beam cutoff and is useable as dipped beam, and a driving combo as main beam, which uses 2 of the 4 lamp leds as spots and 2 as wide angles.
More compact are the S2 (2 leds) and S1 (the wide angle version of which does not have a good cutoff)

They are not cheap, but good quality. The Pro versions of each lamp are just brighter. I have had excellent results buying from the USA on ebay - 9 days for delivery, all customs paid, to UK. Beat that you spiteful European customs guys!

Finally got the Rigid Ignites connected up.
One aligned to assist main beam. The other to boost the spread of dipped beam and switched so that the hi beam spot switches off as lights are dipped.
I just took it out for a 5 mile ride now that its dark out there, around unlit country roads and I am very pleased.
On main beam, with both spots on, its almost like daylight. I shal now look forward to night time rides home.
So thanks for the recommendation, tohellnback.
