Tool & gear storage on the bike
What ideas you guys got for permanent tool & gear storage on bikes? Little hidey spots, tips ect
|
Depends if you mean hidey spots for tidiness or discretion.
On my Transalp, I have a "tooltube" bolted under the top-box plate. In there are all the tools I need for most jobs. Circlipped to the pannier rack is a length of drainpipe with end plates where I keep a can of puncture repair spray. In the top-box is a puncture repair kit and circlipped to the rack, under the top-box but behind the pillion are two tyre levers. None of these are hidden, but they keep stuff out of the way yet accessible. On my TDM, as it has a key-released seat, I tucked a smaller, but quite comprehensive tool kit under the seat, along with a tubeless repair kit. That of course is entirely out of sight and also hard to access without my key. Alternatively, just carry a well-fed credit card! |

The CB500X has a couple of nice spaces down the front of the tank, especially if you encourage the carbon filter to fall off.

Just for tidiness, was thinking about drilling holes in the end of a few of the heavier tools & bolting / attaching to parts of the bike down low & using zip ties to attach a few items inside the airbox, behind the screen...
& also was thinking where I could store some cash & a cut down spare key, I’m thinking inside the handle bars in a rag maybe, just need to ensure it can be retrieved once the hand guards are removed Quote:

Plenty of room under the seat too - especially if you trim a few of the ribs with a Dremel: https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...ZnR2xRV-XL.jpg Jenny x |
