Tool box / storage
Found this great idea on KTM talk. Its a tool box / storage area on a 640 adventure disguised as an exhaust and the endcap is removable / lockable offering a quite large secure and very stealthy storage area. Check it out, follow the link: http://ktmtalk.com/addons/photogalle...s/toolbox1.jpg |
Oh forgot to mention for those 'non 640 adventure' familiar riders that the side cover is not on so when in place you couln't tell that the can led to nowehere without arousing a lot of suspician. Very neat! would work on almost any single can bike too...

Looks great...
Does this also fit with pannierrack mounted on? |
I guess you would have to modify the rack as well as the side cover a bit but what it would do is allow you to use the same size boxes on either side (2 x 41 litre?) as the dummy exhaust would make the right hand side the same as the left.

V v interesting - believe me or not (!) I bought a 110mm plastic drainage tube and screw-cap just a couple of days ago with this very idea in mind!
The Arrow exhaust on my XT600 is about 110mm diameter, so in terms of pannier location I had to make room for this on one side anyway. Easy enough to keep the same spacing and fit the same diameter tube on the other side. At 50cm long the tube has an internal volume of a bit less than 5lt. It's completely watertight so great for gear or - when needed - converts into water tank. Ta daaa! Was going to make up a false 'exhaust' out of 1mm ally sheet, and use this to hide/protect the screwing end cap. Downside is that the tube/cap feels like about 2kg, although yet to put it on the scales. Also not especially cheap at £50 for two screw caps, four feet of tube, two end caps (non-screw) and solvent cement. Also got one for the front (but 45cm long) as toolbox. ------------------ Barry 3AJ Tenere |
