trickle charging a laptop battery

I'm not leaving until Sept. 2004, but I'll be on a 1966 250 Ducati single. I'm switching it from 6 volt to 12 volt. I'm trying to figure out how I can put a trickle charger to recharge my laptop battery. Has anyone tried to recharge a battery on a small bike?
