"Back in the good old days......blah blah" - Landrover used to supply a leather swivel joint gaiter, very effective at keeping the joints free of the worst of the dust and beach sand/sea water. I had a pair made up by a leather worker in the late 90s, just a conical shape, with a double fold over seam on the underside and sufficient slack to use the swivel bolts to secure and a big jubilee clip around the axle. I just measured the distances at full lock. In India you'd have no trouble with getting such a simple job done.

Smear all the innards with grease before fitting.

The gaiters/swivels were still in fine condition when the chassis collapsed after about ten years beach use.
