Door Locks on 110 CSW
I'm trying to find a way to make the doors on my 110 CSW a bit more secure. Has anyone ever managed to fit any extra door locks (deadlocks etc.) to the 5 doors on a 110 CSW? I want to avoid sticking padlocks / staples etc on the outside if possible. Or am I just worrying about nothing?

Your rear side windows are less secure than the door locks. If I was going to worry about security on a 110, I'd start with them.

One of the great things about traveling in groups in the desert, days anway from anywhere is meeting the 110 owners who lock and alarm the car at night. I take great delight in using my keys which have opened every Defender I've tried!
Anyway, I added a nice hasp and good quality lock to the rear door and added the Mantec "bars" to the rear windows (picture here: http://www.dynamics.co.uk/gallery/im...00_B_012.jpg). Throw away the normal screws that come with them and use the high-security type they use in phone boxes, etc (can't remember the name of them). I also had the glass "secured" all round by Pentagon which was bloody expensive. Very good though and I got it tinted. Thanks guys. I've got Mantec grills on side and rear windows and a security film bonded to all the glass, but how do I stop people opening the doors with any old key they happen to have? I can fit padlocks and staples, but want to avoid this if I can. The main difficulty is that the windows wind right down into the door so fitting something inside the door - like a deadlock of some sort - is very difficult. All suggestions gratefully received.

What about securing your rear load area with a paddlock on the rear door and a moddified dog gaurd in the back that can be removed & instaled quickly with a couple of paddlocks, then if all your valuables are stored back there, then there is less chance they will break into the front which is harder to secure.

You can't mount the deadbolt inside the door beacuse of the window mechanism. How about in the pillar between the doors, then only the bolt extends into the door. A small diameter lock liek the ones used on tuffy boxes should fit onk in the space on the pillar. I think I've seen soem with double bolts so one lock would do both doors.

I just spoke to the guys at APB Trading who have some locks used originally for caravans. They're going to send me a photo of it - I'll put it up on my website when I get it.

I looked at these locks when my vehicle was in APB for some work a few weeks ago. They can be fitted on the second row doors and possibly on the rear door, but are too big to be fitted on the front doors (too wide to fit on the post between first and second row doors). I'm looking for a solution where one key will fit all doors. (Too many keys already without different keys for different doors.)
