Mitsubishi Delica
At risk of being laughed out of the forum, does anybody know how good the Mitsubishi Delica is as an offroad vehicle. It seems to have moderate clearance - but I've enever heard of one being used for overlanding?? Is it as bad as the Shogun??

Hi, Stangely enough - just after reading your post I pulled up next to one in my Land Cruiser in the supermarket car park. My wife (who's South African) then told me that they used to have one back in SA. Turns out it was a great family 'adventure' car - and they did a fair bit of moderate offroading in it.
The one I saw looked pretty encouraging - lots of living/storage space good ground clearance, fairly robust looking, cool plexiglass roof at the back. Also, it looked like it maybe had 2 fuel tanks - do you know if this is standard?? Anyway - why not find out what they are like in the only way you really can - by trying one? Nobody will laugh you off the forum for making a pioneering step - and it will make a great change from the interminable Land Cruiser/ Land Rover argument :-) Good luck and keep us posted. Andy |
I once crossed one in the dunes at Ksar Gilane in Tunisia.
Unless you're planning on extreme stuff, I don't see why not. |
Hi Dan
I don,t know why you say the Pajero/Shogun is bad,I drove one across the Sahara with no problems, and it had already been to SA and back. If it has the same 2.5 TD, tortion bar front and leaf rear suspension, I would recommend it, parts are easy (but expensive) everwhere. ------------------ |
