National Luna - Battery Management Systems
Hi All,
I have been doing some hunting around, and found a post by Darrin, saying he got a National Luna Battery management system imported from them to the UK. Just wondering if anyone else has tried out there system and how it is? National Luna - Battery Management I also noticed they have some fridges, which look pretty good, anyone tried them? Hi Dan, a few years back I followed in Darrins footsteps and had one sent over from SA. Had absolutly no problems with it, and though there are far cheaper options available its a nice unit and you gotta love those coloured lights in your cab . . . :)

I can't comment on the split charge system but I do have a national Luna fridge - 40L stainless steel. They are not the cheapest fridges, but with thick insulation, a dannfoss compressor and the ultra-fashionable stainless finish I happen to love it! It did help that I imported it from SA to Ghana so it worked out for me cheaper than waeco/engel from UK or Germany. I haven't toured with the fridge yet as it is a relatively new aquisition, but for "jungle parties" it has coped well with beer and tropical nights. Pretty much what I bought it for anyway! At £90 they are a good buy. but I suspect that they will be over £200 when now bought in the UK? In which case there are likely to be better and cheaper units.
That said, it has sat there for 6 years and worked fine. |

Not at all. I go traveling to avoid rain and water in general unless it's for swimming ;-):Beach:
I have it all positioned at the top of the internal bulkhead (about stomach height as you sit) but if you expect loads of water on your trip I guess you could mount it all up on the side of your vehicle, but you are supposed to keep it as close to the batt's as possible. I have forded a few hairy rivers and had water in the footwells, but any deeper than that and you probably have other things to worry about anyway.....:stormy: :stormy: :scooter: :stormy: |
I did wonder about sticking it in a sealed box, in the engine compartment, I wonder what effect that would have on it thermally, does it get warm during ops?

Nah, keeping it out of there seems prudent. Internal bulkhead or just behind the passengers head on the side seems best. Keep the wiring simple and things away from the heat and vibration of the engine, gearbox where possible etc.
