Steel or alloy wheels?

I imagine steel will be best for Africa considering anything steel can be welded?
Any opinions?

steel wheels

Absolutely.. In 40+ years of motoring I have only twice had a problem with air loss by bead seal leaking. Both times it was alloy rims. Never with steel rims.

1980 ford cortina alloy wheels
this year, bmw r80rt front alloy wheel leaking.

plus they do not damage so easily from tyre levers.

steel

and if you do bend your steels you can whack it back out with a hammer, doesn't work well on alloys
