Travelling light (er)

Planning to travel further into Africa than I expected as part of a RTW tour. I´d like to travel as light as possible south of Morocco, to enable soft sand travel; the best solution would be to leave some of my, er, junk somewhere or with someone, and pick it up on the loop back. Anyone have any ideas on reliable persons/places that would be willing to do this, and it still be there when I returned?
Thanks in advance.

If you don't need it in the desert, why bringing it to Africa in the first place? No need to carry something that's available locally, and if it isn't you may need it all along the way.

Check with your fellow citizens at consulates and embassies if you can leave stuff with them (at their home and as a personal service, of course, not at the embassy). You can also check teachers and workers at english or french-speaking schools and hospitals.

In Northern and Western Africa, I would try the Alliance Française. They're usually very nice people and know the country well.

You can leave your stuff in the campsite in Dakhla with Boubacar the manager. Loads of people have left stuff there and I'm not aware of anybody who has ever had a problem.
