1 week tour around UK
 

I am planning on touring the UK this summer (mid/late July). I need recommendations for the budget minded adventurer. I'd like to rent a bike for a week and tour England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland (in one big loop).

How should I go about collecting information on this possible adventure?

I'm not sure if it is available in the U.S., but a British weekly called Motorcycle News often runs about 5-10 bike hire ads, including those who hire to couriers - very cheap, especially if you go for the popular models or lower than 600cc. ( You really do not need more on British roads ). These are invariably based in London.
You could get on the MCN site and surf a bit, even register and ask the (very) mad Brits ( like myself) who use the discussion pages for help. ( Don't take the abuse seriously....all in good fun...!!) www.motorcyclenews.com
Off my head I think carnells hire - bit more expensive, and someone called HC Travel, too. The latter is aimed at tourists.
Anyhow, it should be easy for you to hire a bike, but check the insurance is included or available and will cover non-residents before you set out!!
