Any developements on the 90/180 Turkish visa situation
I read that in the summer they introduced this limitation without warning and then subsequently withdrew it, but it could return.
(the stipulation was that you can't spend more than 90 days in 180 on a tourist visa, thus preventing hopping over to a neighbouring country to immediately get a new 90 day visa) My visit would broken into two and last time I obtained a second 3mth visa for the return leg from the middle east. |
Heard that Turkish government will make it even harder unless Europe makes it easier to receive visa for Turkish people.
Some Turkish singers and artist refused for granting visa which were invited for receiving a prize etc. and everybody is very angry for EE for this issue. Turkish people don't want to look cheap and as a garden and easy market for EE though have some problems with immigrants from Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. |
I live here in Turkey on a 90 day tourist visa. I had to renew it last week and was issued another 90 day visa. So no change, as yet.

Thanks both.
Whilst appreciating the Turkish postion on this, I certainly don't want it suddenly changing to 90/180 again whilst I am t'other side of Turkey from home. :oops2: It's on the return leg that I will want to spend two to three months there. |
There are no current plans to re-introduce the 90/180 day visa as yet. But be warned, when it was initially started even many of the customs police weren't aware of it. It could come back without warning. Plan with a view that it probably won't return for another six months, but check a week before traveling if it would affect your plans.

Be interesting to know what the International trucking companies do with visas for their drivers - there'd be hundreds of UK/EU truck drivers who have to transit Turkey to get to the Middle East and Saudi, etc, and back again.
Maybe a call to an international transport company and see if the transport manager can help out or point you in the right direction for the visa type needed for repetitive entry/exit for Turkey. |
I like that suggestion.
I'm wondering if a transit visa only for the outward bound Turkey leg would prevent us obtaining full tourist visas at the turkish/Syrian border coming back again, should the stipulation be invoked again. |
i have two friends that just did a visa run. one came back a few days ago and she was fine (came through an airport). the other one just got back and had some problems. he was told that the rule changed again. they gave him a warning but let him in. does anyone know anything new about this?

visa for Turkey
Can anyone explain the difference between ordinary and official passport holders?
Rob. |
Hi Robertsmits,
""Can anyone explain the difference between ordinary and official passport holders? Rob."" Let me explain it according to the international aggreements our government has done with 198 countries. All countries sign visa statements with each country on the world one by one under 4 headlines.(what you get is what you give) Ordinary passport.:every citizen can get it..price some expensive and includes some taxes..weak and unflexible against visa procedures. You need visa for many countries if your country doesnt have a free visa agreement. Official passport: Red,grey, green. Green..: given to high rank officers by the government.(In Turkey 1.st deg. government officiers)..its free..You need visa for less countries.. Grey..: Given to sportsmen for international competitions or those who has been appointed by the government for international official meetings..Has the same power with the green one.. Red....:Given to all elected members of parliament, ministers, mayors, generals forever covering their wives and children even after they are retired or not elected again..needs no visa for all countries.(except 5 for Turkey) VISA...: There are 3 types of visas. Which one you need depends on the agreement your country has done with the country you will visit) normal...: expensive fee..application must be done in the home country..many documents must be included at each application..needs some time to get it.. against stamp fee..: You can get it at the bordergates very fast..cheap..no documents.. free visa stamp......: you can get it at the bordergates very fast..free.. no documents.. Visa stamp on your passport never gives a guaranty for you to enter that country..At the bordergate, head officier may not let you in.Or even you dont have visa, head officier may let you in against bordergate stamp..Here the most important thing is how you express yourself.. After so many personal experiences(over 2.500.000 km.travel, all europe, all north africa and half of asia), the tips for this stage I can give are..: 1-Be gentle and calm. 2-Look happy and excited to be in that country. 3-Keep your documents clean and in order. 4-Learn how to say hello and how are you in the local language.. 5-The colours of their wearings may be a start of a good talk about a local football team which has same colours during the first 2-3 minutes while your procedure is being done. 6-If you feel there will be a problem, give some stickers and small gifts. If not satisfying, some small bribery..If problem continues, get you passport back at once not to get a red stamp..Never continue discussing. 7-Express yourself well and friendly..Don't forget, you are always representing your country also. Wish you all the best. mehmet zeki. |
