Austrian Motorail
Has anybody experienced? I've read there is a Dusseldorf - Vienna train, but getting conflicting info as to whether it actually still runs???
One site I googled says its been discontinued, but the austrian rail site still talks about it. Anybody local who would know, or has recently used? It would be the perfect fit for an upcoming journey i'm planning to get some serious miles out of the way. |
I travelled Munich ti Dusseldorf,in June .If you look on the German rail site ,autozug,it has all of the new 2009 routes ,You can also book through the site.

Hallo,
I acctually do not know wether the train runs from Düsseldorf, but in case nt, you can still use the austrian motorail from Feldkirch (which ist just after the swiss border). That I am sure runs to vienna. Here ist the link to a page with more or less all links to European moto-rails: http://www.moto-adventure.ch/reisepl...autozuege.html Click on the last one and you will be leaded to the link of austrian moto-rail. All the best and have a nice ride! burnout1 |
Despite the title, try the seat61.com website: A guide to Motorail trains in Europe: Taking your car by train
From the links there it would appear there is a service, but maybe not direct. Have you considered Dusseldorf to Innsbruck? That would be a bit shorter and cheaper, and would set you up for the Austrian Alps and maybe the Dolomites. |
