Back from trip
Thanks guys for your input ref a route back from Finland through Norway. The roads were amazing from Drammen across to Stavanger, really something to never forget. One interesting thing we found on the trip was that in Finland and Norway, the fuel pumps wouldn't accept our credit cards. OK when used by a cashier, and they worked fine at the pumps in Denmark and Sweden. At one point in Finland I thought my wife had stopped the card having recieved the statement for the trip so far!!!! but we managed to limp another 30 miles to a station with a human being (boy was she cute), Any ideas why the cards don't work????

it's the same in france. don't worry. carry some spare cash, your worst case is giving someone (local) the cash and they put your fuel on their card.

I had similar problems with my Visa Debit card in Finland but Norway & Sweden were fine. I was told the machine wouldn't accept foreign credit cards.
In some towns in the north of Finland, it did seem like there were only unattended automated petrol stations available so I never let the tank get anywhere near reserve just in case I had to go on to the next town. Have to second your comment about the attendants. :thumbup1: It was a pleasure to stop sometimes. |
