Bedding in bungalows/chalets?
We're planning on a 4/5 week trip into Europe in August (including Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland and Czech Republic) and don't want to camp but are thinking of using campsite bungalows/chalets where possible to keep the costs down. The few we've used previously provided bedding. Is this always the case or do we need to take sleepng bags?

Sleeping bags are a good idea. Not that you will always need them. But if you do need them and have them better for you.

I guess that's the sensible option but I was hoping to avoid carrying unnecessary gear if possible as it's a pain lugging stuff about that you never need.

If you're expecting to be in hot'ish climates, where the night-time temps remain up in the high teens° / lower-mid twenties°, then take along a couple of silk liners, which pack-up into tiny sacks that weigh next to nothing.
We use ours all the time - instead of sleeping bags;and wouldn't leave home without them. KEITH . |
Are you expecting to just turn up without pre-booking. I know it's not France but you would be very lucky to find a chalet available here in August and I think the same would apply in much of Europe.

Liners seem like a good compromise - and of course it's going to be warm enough!
We're not leaving until the last week of August, as usual, and have been lucky enough before without booking. We used to camp all the time and discovered bungalows - great as an alternative to putting the tent up when the weather is bad. We were planning on doing B&B this time but thought that the bungalows might be a good alternative if available. As we won't be carrying camping kit this time, liners seem a good idea as they take up so little space and IF we find any bungalows and IF they don't have bedding we'll be sorted! Thanks for your help :thumbup1: |
Lightweight long sleeve vest & long johns are a useful standby for unexpected temperature drops both on and off the bike. Good Luck with the trip

Yup - got them already, but thanks for the suggestion.
