Best ride from goreme to nemrut dagi?
Hi to everyone from spain!!, we will be in turkey by the end of october. which is the best way to go from goreme to nemrut dagi? how long it takes? Not the fastest, we prefer a more scenery road. any advice will be welcome.
thanks a lot. Pedro. |
Hi Pedro,
Welcome to HUBB Goreme-Kayseri (85 kms) (1 hr) Kayseri-Pinarbasi-Goksun-Kahramanmaras (290 kms) (4 hrs) Kahramanmaras-Narli-Pazarcik-Golbasi-Adiyaman-Kahta-Nemrut Dagi (aprox 270 kms) (4-5 hrs) The road from Pinarbasi to Kahramanmaras very scenic. Also K.Maras to Adiyaman quite beautiful. Definitely try to taste dondurma (ice cream) in K.Maras at Yasar, Ferah or Kervan together with baklava, You will not regret. Late October would be cold in the area. You can even meet snow between Pinarbasi and Tekir (K.Maras, after Goksun). Be careful. if you will meet snow, better to ride Goreme-Kaymakli-Derinkuyu-Adana-Adiyaman-Kahta-Nemrut via highway. Not much scenic except Adana Tekir area. Still possible to have snow around Tekir area... Have a nice ride. |
A bit wrong timing for that area.
Mt.Nemrut has 2 entrances, north from malatya, south from adıyaman. Take the south entrance as it is a natural park area and north one is under construction.So you will make it to adıyaman first. Three roads available all in good conditions but sometimes partly under small constructions. North to south.The more north is the more natural one but the more south is the less cold one.. 1-Göreme-malatya-adıyaman....570 km. 2-göreme-kahramanmaraş-adıyaman...510 km. km. 3-göreme-adana-adıyaman....935 km. From adıyaman to kahta...34 km. asphalt. from kahta to the top of Mt.Nemrut.. 43 km. day and night 2 different climates now..more than 20 minutes walking at the top is not recommended for those who are used to smoking or have heart problems.. after watching the sunset on the west terrace, highly recommend spend the night there and watch the sunrise on the east terrace..When it is dark, you can put up your tent.Completely safe and every night several people spend the night at the top. Also can recommend you my Spanish friend's blog for more tips who made it last year.In new zealand now after a great asia trip.. https://www.facebook.com/jose.m.garc...ref=ts&fref=ts https://www.facebook.com/AventurasEnMoto Aventuras en moto | Viajando por el mundo en moto All the best.. |
Just got back from Nemrut a week ago. It was cold. 12 deg C at 1300hrs. Stunning views though as the heat haze usually present in summer was absent.
Have fun, Dicky |
Spectacular answers!! absolutely helpfull! Thanks a lot!
we are not worried about cold weather , we practice mountaineering, so we have good clothes and sleeping bags. We are only worried about closed roads because of snow. Can any road be closed in those days? Thanks again for your help! Pedro. |
These are national main roads and never been closed because of snow..
Hard snowing is usually after mid dec...just very very cold and rainy.... Between kahta and nemrut,road conditions may become worse with some path holes... Not sure about your entrance and exit Turkish gates but: If you are after more adventure!!! and would like to be lost in time and dame nature for a while, can recommend road of stones and dark canyon in kemaliye after nemrut visit..Very few know this area.. All the best. |

What is wrong with the distances and timing given in my reply M.Zeki Avar? Why he need to ride up to Malatya to reach Nemrut from Goreme? Have you been to that area? Did you ride/drive ever in those roads? Or just reply from the map? |
Thanks a lot Dicky for your help!!

@pelon
talking only to you and friendly about your thread. Not interested with what is written by those who are in my ignore list,also cant see those messages... As far as I know, timing means planned period to be at somewhere or do something generally used in sports.wrong timing here meaning not the right, perfect season to be there because of the weather conditions.. Same as you got it..A bit nice weather is better for a trip,isn't it.. You will discover more colors of my country than you are informed here. Personally believe, beauties of a country are more tasteful when met uninformed and surprisingly..Thats why ı called snacks!!!! Wish you had more time to include coastal ride from selçuk to antalya including fethiye and kaş. Have a safe, happy trip. |
Thanks ask lot again mehmet!! I am looking forward to ride your beautiful country! I have 12 days to spend in turkey, not all I wanted but my wife and my two daughters don't let me more time!!:o
Thanks again, Pedro. |
