Bike air shipment to UK from Greece or turkey
 

hi I ride from Australia to Uk next year but will be out of time when I reach Istanbul and need to get me nd bike to England. Is it possible to use train? Or where os best for air freight. Any idea of costs?

Humm Reality check... rough guess
Riding about 5,000 km Istanbul to London ... say a weeks travel at speed - no stopping to look at things. Good deal less complicated.

Shipping? Say 2 days to pack the bike, get it to the shipper, complete paper work. Then say a day at the other end to get the bike and unpack it .. so 3 days to arrange, + shipping days say 7 days more?

Difference?
You save 4 days? For a cost of what? $2000? That is about $500 a day. And don't have the use of the bike for a total of 10 days, 3 days more that if you had ridden it

Makes sense. Was trying to avoid long hard ride at end of long trip

Customs and paperwork in İstanbul for foreign vehicles a nightmare..
Its just 1 day ride to Doug's camp if ok. for friends there.
(One of the best places for bikers in Europe)
If your flight will be from istanbul,daily buses available from İdilevo-Bulgaria to Otogar-Esenler and then just a 15 min. tram line to the İstanbul Atatürk airport..
