Bikes into Georgia
 

Contemplating a trip from Turkey into Georgia.
Has anyone done that recently?
Tips...?

I'm in Georgia right now, having spent the previous 3 weeks in Turkey. Border crossing is straightforward, and gas is MUCH cheaper in Georgia. Be prepared to have beer, wine or vodka put into your hands every time you stop for more than ten minutes: at gas stations, welding shops, restaurants, and hotels. Not wanting to ride under-the-influence we're starting to become adept at pouring some out as soon as possible.

Which is the station you entered Georgia from?
How long did it take to leave Turkey and enter Georgia?

We came in to Georgia from Ardahan TK to Akhalkalaki, GA. There were three stops on the Turkish side: passport check, customs and vehicle check. The same three stops on the Georgian side (I mistakenly blew right through the customs check and the next guy sent me back, but no one seemed to care too much.)

Both sides were polite and friendly and forgiving of foreigners mistakes and misunderstandings. It took no more than 45 minutes on each side ( maybe just a little bit less.) Easy.

We'll be in Armenia in the last week of July and Georgia first week of August. Starting in Belgium on July 1st and from July 11th in Turkey. Maybe we'll meet somebody there...:mchappy:
