Black Forest, Germany
Following our usual annual trip to watch the MotoGP at Assen we intend to travel down through Germany to explore the Black Forest area.
Has anybody got any recommendations with regards good routes and hotels around the BF. |
Check out the biking maps at e-publish versions of the ADAC/ UEM Motorcycling maps********
You want MR9. Print the 'complete map on one page' for the overview, then each of the nine pages separately for the detail. Tim |
As Tim mentions, the well-known biking routes are covered on the ADAC/UEM MR9 map.
The Schwarzwaldhochstrasse (B500 from Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt) is one of the most well-known down here, although it should be avoided at weekends, since it's completely full and well-policed. Over the last years, since there have been so many accidents (not just bikes, bit cars also), more and more 70 km/h speed limits have been brought into force. 75 Jahre Schwarzwaldhochstraße Schauinsland is also pretty well-known, but note that it is closed to bikes at weekends and on public holidays. There are enough small side-roads that are not crowded - just take a chance and you'll normally be rewarded. If in doubt, let me know when you'll be here and I'll show you a few examples. For hotels/B&B's etc., a good place to start is: Ferien im Schwarzwald - Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof oder Winzerhof - Unterkunft in Ferienwohnung, Ferienhaus, Hotel oder Gasthaus This site is partly in English, but again, should you need any additional help, please get in touch. |
Thanks both for the info. Now its time to get the maps out to plan next years adventures. Quite like planning, we are spoilt nowadays with GPS, Google Earth etc, .... oh and maps !

Thanks for the links :thumbup1:
Am in the process of planning for 2008 too and I'll at least be passing through the Black Forest and those ADAC maps cover most of the other areas I'm considering. Quote:
