Corsica visit in October 2010
Hi All :mchappy:
My wife and I will be in Corsica for a week arriving on the 21st October 2010 and would appreciate any tips on where to head for and places to stay, Hotel or Villa. Was looking at staying South around Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio, but openminded and may take the ferry to Sardinia for a couple of days. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Chris |
If your looking for some info , I have just finished looking at John Hermann's book ' Motor Cycle Journeys Through The Alps and Beyond'. There is a whole section on great rides in Corsica including an Index of 9 Biker friendly hotels and further useful info. I was hoping to get there myself this year, but now planning Early Spring 2011.:mchappy:
Have fun and keep the shiny side up! |
hey mate,
i would recommend bonnifacio and porte vechio in the south. adjaccio is also nice. in the north, calvi is a pretty cool place. make sure you get inland into the mountains as well as the coast. the east side is pretty straight and less scenic, while the west side is stunning but more slow going because of the extremely winding roads. i wouldn't bother with sardinia. cheers rob |
Corsica Tips
Hi Rob:mchappy:
Many thanks for your tips and aas we were looking at the Sud for most of out trip, we'll take your advice on Bonifacio and Porto Vecchia and give Sardinia a miss, as there seems so much to do in Corsica. Can't wait now. Cheers Chris |
Hi Chris
I just spent 4 days in corisca and a week in sardinia 2 weeks ago for me the roads and riding including other drivers is must better in sardinia but for the scenery and sights corsica has it west cost red rock cliffs but the road surface is average most of the time and the roads are narrower than sarda without the shame amount of chamber and i think corsica is more pricey also it is only a 55minute ferry to sarda if you do go to sarda you must ride the 125 rd no. on the east coast from the capital cagliari north to dorgali or the other way sarda is bigger and there are great rds just have to transit between them sometimes Hugo |
Thanks
Hi Hugo :mchappy:
A great help and thanks for taking the time to reply. We are looking forward to the trip next week. Did you see any motorcycle shops over there or British Pubs? Regards Chris |
hey chris
there is usually some sort of bike shop in the bigger towns even if they cater for scooters i was looking for any pommie pubs but there is typically and paddy pub in the captials hugo |
