Tor lines freight service
Hi Dave,
We've been running 4x4 trips to Nordkapp from the UK for several years and are mildly p***ed that DFDS have cut the Newcastle-Bergen route. Spent a bit of time talking with TOR lines staff and also to a guy who used this service last year. Basically it's difficult to book for groups. Cabin space is limited and you can't book until a month before departure (tough for forward planning) also you need to call TOR the day beiore departure to make sure the boat is going to sail as planned (ditto). Departure times aren't great - 0530 from Immingham and 1130 return (plus time for loading/unloading freight. So, for group trips, we're going to wait until a regular passenger ferry company provides a UK-Norway service. However, for single travellers, it's probably an OK option. There's plenty of food, a decent lounge (forget about bars/bingo/bingo/duty free, etc) If you're on a bike, embarkation/disembarkation's probably quicker. Regards, Jojo |
The tor line freight line is very very expensive about double the standard dfds ferry rate. Only for the rich I think.
