Entering/Leaving north and south Cyprus via Greece/Turkey
I'm going on my first European trip this summer to a wedding on Cyprus, I plan to cross to Cyprus from Turkey then cross to the Greek side of the island for the wedding and then return to the north of the island to cross back into Turkey for the return leg of my trip.
Does anyone know of any problems I may have with this plan? |
Hello Chris,
No problems at all. When you are in Cyprus, please contact me. I will be glad to meet you and show you the island. I am in Limassol. Antonis |
hi
you shouldn't have any problem. take the ferry from tasucu-Turkey to girne-North Cyprus to the north part and within a couple hours you will be in south part of the ireland. have fun while riding in akdeniz region (south part) of Turkey. |

Thank you for the info, I will be on Cyprus for about 10 days and it would be good to meet up, I'm not sure how we can exchange contact details or do I just contact you via the HUBB when I arrive? Chris |

Do you think I need to book the ferry in advance , or should I just turn up and wait for a ferry? I intend to cross into Turkey from Greece in the area around Istanbul, is there anything that I should be aware of? I understand that I need a visa, do I get this at the border? Chris |

Turiye to North Cyprus by ferry

i have crossed that border 4 times (2 times with UK reg. bike, 2 times with Turkish reg. bike). easy crossing at the border. you will get the visa at the border for app. 10 quid if you are holding UK or EU passport. also, don't forget to buy an insurance for Turkiye at the border for app. 10 quid too. the insurance shop is in the duty free area where you can find cigarettes, alcohols, etc.. there is a shop called "Isvicre Sigorta". walk in and ask for motorbike insurance. traffic is a bit busy in Istanbul, especially in the rush hours. crossing from european side to asian side is always busy during day time. just ride through the cars and follow other bikers (do like romans do............) a small tip for the tollbooths for bridge crossing and motorways: do not pay. just take the OGS tools with 60-70 kph. they wont give you a ticket as you have non-Turkish number plate. most probably i am leaving istanbul at the end for march due to job change. if I am around i might help you. about ferry, you dont need to book in advance. just go there and wait for the ferry. I have also took this ferry 2 times long time ago. I guess there was one at 2355 hrs every night and arrive north part of the island in the morning around 0700 ish. this is the cheapest option (and you dont have pay for accommodation). there are also fast ferries, however, i dont know if these fast ferries are only for passanger or not. best route: Turkish border->istanbul->ankara->down to antalya->follow the south coast and arrive tasucu where you have to take the ferry. fast route: Turkish border->istanbul->ankara->mersin-tasucu any more questions welcome. best of luck and enjoy. |
