Ferry from ancona to durres question

Hi
Can anyone tell me if your motorbike was strapped down during the voyage ?? Think there 3 different companies that do the crossing?

I took a ferry on that route about 4 years ago. The ferry itself was not impressive, and I suggest you bring your own food.

I have transported my motorcycle on lots of ferries - Europe-Morocco, Europe-Tunisia, Scotland-Ireland, even New York to Southampton once - and motorcycles are always tied or strapped down on ferries.

Having said that, the quality of the tie-downs that are offered by the ferry companies varies considerably, from good quality EC approved ratchet straps to oily old ropes. So it's best if you purchase a small ratchet strap at a hardware store or automotive supply shop and bring it with you.

The methodology for tying down the moto is straightforward: Put it on its side-stand (not the centerstand), leave it in gear, then put one ratchet strap across the middle of the moto, perpendicular to the direction that the motorcycle is pointed. Crank that strap down until the suspension compresses the first centimeter, then don't crank it down any more than that.

See the picture below.
