IDP for Bosnia?
 

In my rush to get away i forgot to update my IDP, now my LP states i need one for Bosnia, yet the RAC site says nothing for Bos and the AA says i need one. Anyone enlighten me on this as the Bosnia Tourism site doesn't throw up any result.:oops2:

This is probably a dumb question (and not the response you're after) but what is an IDP and a LP?
Mind you - the fact I don't know what they are probably means I can't help ...... but, you never know!

Bosnia is signed up to the IDP. Any current IDP issued will be valid there. It does not contain a list of countries for which it is valid. Nor does it have to be in the language of a participating country.

So, If you have a valid IDP, its valid in Bosnia and this lot as well:thumbup1:

But I think Pottsy is asking if he is OK in Bosnia with just with his national Licence. Or another way, is an IDP (International Driving Permit, Mermaid) compulsory in Bosnia?

Usually, LP = Lonely Planet, unless pottsy had something else in mind.

It's true that the official status is a bit sketchy, however, in practice, at both border and police checks, I've only ever had to show my normal EU (In my case German)driving licence.

Pottsy: I assume with your address as London, UK, you have a British Driving Licence. If you have the new EU version, don't worry about the IDP.

have traveled through Bosnia and the Balkans a lot, and never needed the IDP. your country's licence is fine. just be carefull of the radars at the entrance of villages... been stopped outside vitez at 3 am once!

Yup - it was a dumb question ...... I even worked it our for myself after I logged off!

As Ghost Rider says - if you have a British Driving Licence (EU) then an IDP isn't required.
Have a great time - it was a fantastic place.

Ta for the positive response to my question, folks. You never know with Officialdom whether or not you'll get away with incorrect paperwork, but i hope they'll let me in... Sarajevo has been on the list for some time now!:thumbup1:
