HI Guys,

I’m days away from getting my Toyota Land Cruiser road legal in Belgium (only taken 2 years) ... a lot of time has passed since I brought it and the chances of long sabbatical from work isn’t going to happen.

I’m thinking about somewhere warm I can leave the car and do 2 /3 week holidays from there.... Camping Stukka concept is ideal, but north Africa isn’t high on the agenda at the moment... and to avoid an expensive carnets leaves Greece / Turkey ... Does anyone know of secure overlanding parking in Greece / Turkey ? its an ideal gateway into Syria and Iran ... I’ve left my bike in Cyprus before, bloody handy but a real pain...

She’s a HJ75 so not the most economical or fastest to drive from Belgium each holiday.

You could park your car at the parking of the airport in athens but i guess it's a little expensive, it must be something like 160euro per month. Car Parking Calculator

Your other option is to use one of the few busineses around the airport that provide parking space a little cheaper 110-130 euros per month. I google it but couldnt found an english website.

A third option is to rent a parking space of an apartment somewhere in athens. I can find classifieds from 40 -100 euro per month.

Your last option is to park it on the road, but if you are going to leave it there for a lot of time someone might steal it or the municipality might take it.

Hi many thanks for the reply, so far it seems renting a fixed space is the answer, ideally covered ... I'm looking for someone with an appartment, and dedicated parking space they don't use which they would rent out...

When are you planning to come in Greece?
For how long will you need the parking space?
Are you interested in Athens or another city?

Would like to head over in August 2012 and leave it over the winter.. Possibly use it in November / December for a week or two...

Anywhere in Greece works for me... as long as I can find public transport to a international airport...

I've had a quick look on the internet for garages to rent - could be an option...

I live in Athens, so if you need any help do not hesitate.

There is a metro line that goes to Athens airport, so anywhere close to a metro station is good.

A small campsite could be an option. I read once of people leaving their motorhome on one for a reasonable fee. it wasn't too far from Athens.

Personally, I wouldn't leave it anywhere on the road - rented parking spot or not - in a town or city.

Since posting the above, I have read that you can invalidate your insurance by leaving a vehicle unattended abroad for anything more than very short periods of time.

Check with insurers first.
