Montenegro green tax + IDL
Hi
Off to Montenegro in July on (t)rusty Daytona 1200 and would like to know if the 10 euro ''green'' tax applies to bikes ?????. Also do you need an Internation Driving Licence, whats the general attitude of police and how safe will the bike be ?. Many Thanks |
no problem
I paid no taxes. No problem with police. If you are from Europe, you don't need intl' driving licence. Nobody stopped me for any check there during my ride.
Everything is just fine there. No need to worry. |
I travelled through Montenegro with a mate in September. No mention of a green tax, just the (almost forgotten) buy-at-the-border insurance (<10 EUR). I don't think we even saw any Police away from the border crossings. I don't think I showed anyone any form of driving licence, though we each had an IDP with us.
Parking up felt safe enough - I wasn't any more paranoid than in the UK anyway. I left bags on all day, but always kept 'irreplaceables' on me though, so wasn't overly fussed about my skanky washing. Cracking country - amazing limestone hills. |
are you confusing the 'Green tax' with the €10 Euro insurance you have to pay at the border? I spoke to a Kosovan car driver who had driven an Audi from the UK and he was getting stiffed for an environmental tax.
As the others have said you just need your European drivers license. We didn't get stopped at anytime. The coast and mountain roads are amazing. Especially the Gulf of Kotor. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3330/...625d8106_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3391/...3c27acf7_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3385/...cf3bc95b_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3415/...abf2fe3f_b.jpg This is Lake Shkoder http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3539/...ebbbdcc9_b.jpg |
