N111 Road, Pamplona, Spain
Has anyone ever ridden this road? Looks interesting.

Good evening from Spain. The N111 is a fantastic biking road between LogroƱo and Soria. It's one of my favorites at the north of Spain.
It's about 100 kms long and the "Puerto de Piqueras" (Piqueras pass) is just in the middle: 1710 metres high on the sea level. Near the top of the pass, there is a (cheap) restaurant called "Venta de Piqueras". The owner is a middle aged british woman. Enjoy it |
I ride in Spain a lot. The N111 is quite a nice road, but it has been ruined in recent years by the to dual carriageway between Pamplona and Logrono, which breaks up a good ride. IMHO there are much better roads to be found in Spain.

A little further south, the road from Calatayud (which is east beyond Soria), heading SW starts off as the A202 and becomes the CM210 most of the way to Carrascosa del Campo. This is a beautiful road running through a national park, taking you in a direction south of Madrid. Another, the EX 204 / EX 205 found to the SW of Salamanca is a lovely route across the Sierra de Gata heading into central Portugal. Almost any route around and over the Picos de Europa is also beautiful. Note: When travelling in Spain, I find the regional roads rather than the main (N) roads provide much greater satisfaction and are often as quick, particularly in the west of the country. When planning a route, I recommend Michelin 1 / 400 000 scale maps to find the best roads. Those are just a few, a bit random, but I'm not sure what your plans are. If you can give me some more detail, I'd be glad to try and help. |

Have you ever did the "Camino de Invierno". You can divide the whole route in different stages. I really recommend you the first one from "Colinas" to "O Barco de Valdeorras" is about 100km. The route is a combination of nature and little Villages that can let you discover a different Spain that maybe you are not used to. Paddel Surf Hinchable I do not know if it is one of the better routes but I really enjoyed when I did it. Hope it helps! :thumbup1: |
