Off road in central Italy – Tratturi
 

I’m planning a trip with 3 friends to ride off road in central Italy at the beginning of June 2006

I believe that there is a network of old drove roads in Molise around Campobasso.

Can anybody provide more information about these or other long distance off road routes?

I found some info on www.enduromania.it but have not managed to contact anyone from this site.

Try also "Via Francìgena" on Google, Yahoo or even MSN. It is the network of old medieal roads that would start from various border points (France and Austria) and converge to Viterbo - the City of Popes - and from there on the Via Cassia to Rome.

I have crossed paths with the Via Francigena a few times, it's mostly country lanes nowadays. I suggest 100.000 scale maps
