Please Critique My Turkey Trip Plan
I'm planning three weeks in Turkey in July. I have never been here before although I have ridden extensively all over the world. I appreciate any tips you all can provide, but what I'm most concerned with is my riding time estimates. Are these numbers somewhat accurate based on timing not including gas and food stops and assuming the most direct route possible?
Here's my proposed route: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Ista...41.0082376!3e0 And here is the schedule: Riding: Istanbul to Pamukkale 7:30 Day off: Pamukkale Riding: Pamukkale to Selcuk 2:30 Day off: Selcuk Riding: Selcuk to Bozburun/Marmaris 4:30 total via ferry Day off: Bozburun Riding: Bozburun to Fethiye via Turunç Belediyesi – 3hrs Day off: Fethiye Day off: Fethiye Riding: Fethiye to Kemer via Gelemis Turizm and Kas 3:45 Riding: Kemer to Urgup via Seydisehir and Konya - 7:30 Day off Urgup Riding: Urgup to Amasya 4:30 Day off: Amasya Riding Amasya to Safranbolu 2:10 Day off: Safranbolu Riding: Safranbolu to Istanbul via Zonguldak - 6hrs If anyone knows of any other places that we should see, please let me know. We'd like to get to Trabzon and Ani, but those places are just too far east to cover in the time we have. Other than that, we are up for suggestions |
Merhaba,
Most beauties of turkey are in aegean and mediterrenaean coastlines and natural colors, dishes, traditions in inlands.(Plus İstanbul number 1) I guess it will be better to include Gallipoli, troy,Babakale(westernmost point of the main asia continent)Ayvalık route then direct to selçuk for ephesus...Then pamukkale and fethiye if you are after natural beauties..(Bodrum, marmaris, antalya are famous with bars, crazy night life, expensive accom.. only ok if u are after a seaside holiday by taking a passenger boat everyday to swimmimg/ diving areas)) Also between kemer and ürgüp, ı would prefer kemer, silifke, karaman,niğde route if ı were you.Not too hot and more natural life.. You can also take a ferry on marmara sea between istanbul/Yenikapı and yalova or bandırma towns. 2016 SpringTimetable In south turkey,be aware of melting asphalt and sand poured on the road.better to be on the road early in the mornings or evenings..There are many interesting places to discover which are very close to each other. So ı will recommend see and book the place to spend the night after seeing.. Hope helps. All the best. |

Hi cu260r6 !
Which bike do you have? Turkey is famous by enduro! Coastal road Antalya - Alanya is not the best. Go mountains 30-50 km off... Trabzon is too far and the interesting area is rather small. What is your interest in Amasya? Think to add Samsun and Amasra, less Zonguldak. |
