Prepaid gsm card with data transfer for Romania
Hi,
I will soon leave to Romania with my friends. We will sleep in different hotels and travel partly independently. It would be convenient to buy a local prepaid card for mobile phones to stay in touch at low rates. Can I ask a kind Romanian to suggest a provider, please? I need it for 10 days, domestic calls is enough, preferably with data transfer included for internet access. Thanks in advance! Kris |
Vodafone Romania
Best option for pay as you go and available most places. www.vodafone.ro - google translate does a pretty good job.
If you are coming down to Brasov - gives us a msg!! Gavin |
Thanks for a quick reply Gavin. I have few more questions if you don't mind answering.
TOTAL 7 plan seems to fit all my needs. The website says something similar to "if charged between 7 and 8 euro, TOTAL 7 is activated automatically". So the card is initially empty? Can I do the initial charge at the same place where I buy the card? Is it available at petrol stations? Thanks! |
A quick look seems to say it is 6€ for the card and another 7 for the extra option - though it appears until 6 may you get a free bonus that might fulfill all your needs. I suggest that you stop in first town after you cross border and go to a vodafone shop - the guys there will sort you out with the best value option for your needs, get your internet settings working etc. no stress - Usually cute girls working for Vodafone too! :)
Are you coming through Ukraine - or Slovakia/Hungary ? If Ukraine - make time for a stop in Uzgohorod.... cool town ... track down the Red Bull Bikers Bar... |
activation - you neeed to use the *100# menu option.... usually has english lang option too....

I will come through Slovakia and Hungary. Thanks for the tip about Uzgohorod. I've been waiting so long to convince a group of friends to go to Romania... At last!
Thanks for mobile info, Kris |
