South East England Weekend Rides
G'morning Everyone!
I am getting my first bike (a beautiful Honda Domminator - rrrr) on saturday, and since I have been waiting aaaages to be able to ride, I have stored up enough enthusiasm to drive all my mates nuts! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif I was hoping that there were a few riders that I might be able to hook up with on weekends to go for rides, to get used to my bike and to meet some of you lovely people (and also so that I get to share the love, instead of having my friends disown or tranquelize me!). Any breakfast runners out there (well, the overlanding type - I may have trouble keeping up with speedy road bikers) or get togethers planned for a saturday or sunday over the next few weeks? |
Hi Shells,
If you're looking for people to ride with, similar bikes and somewhere to go, you'll do no better than going to Derby, weekend of 24th to 26th June for the HU Travellers Meeting. There'll be rides-out, talks and slide shows of far-off, interesting places and loads of people to shower your enthusiasm upon. Check the link to the left, or further down this BB. See ya there, Brian |
Hope it's fine, Saturday!
Recommend www.tvam.org for a look. Have an open afternoon with 1:1 riding assessment offered. Sun 19th June 12.30-15.30 at St Crispin's school (A329 London Rd) Wokingham Berkshire. Should be on website. Great group. Allot you a personal observer who'll take you through to IAM test status in your free time and no charge other than joining. Take as long as you like. I did! Also a social side if you want. ------------------ Little Joanie |
I'll be heading out from London somewhere close to next weekend, don't know where to ride as yet as i'm new to the UK, I was thinking maybe towards Wales? I'm on a road bike, but it's a clapped out R65 so there's no chance of you being left behind. Let me know if you're keen.

Hey Eveybody *wave*
I had paid and registered for the Horizons meet & ride out before I had my bike or my license http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif ...so now just have to wait till the weekend finally arrives! In the mean time I am keen to meet people who are up for day rides over the weekend, even if it's just to a cool pub somewhere distant for lunch - it's all about just beign out on my bike at the moment (getting used to her and just wanting to spend as much time as possible on her). So, if anyone is keen for a bit of fresh air and some time on their bike, give me a shout! ------------------ If you don't have bugs in your teeth, you haven't been grinning enough! |
For an easy ride (although not particluarly adventurous) with a very pleasant place to chill at the end of it, take the A12 from the Green Man Roundabout (Leytonstone) to Suffolk. Beautiful coastine with excellent seafood and beer at Aldeburgh and Southwold, and lots of quite country lanes to ride in. Courteous car drivers too. It's about a 3 hour ride.
Hey Sean... glad you made it to London. I've been reading your website, very interesting. I've got an '86 R65 and I love it. it's a joy to ride. |
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Mmmm Seafood and beer and country lanes sound like an excellent way to spend a saturday - thanks!
Sean, you will have to give us all a shout when you arrive in the UK - we can organise a welcome ride. Amazing adventure, mate - well done! ------------------ If you don't have bugs in your teeth, you haven't been grinning enough! |
Hi Shells Happy to meet up I'm currently in South London, as I ride an old Ducati M you will have no trouble keeping up! I need to find a few people who aren't racing around on sportsbikes.. all my mates have bought them and my old Italian number just can't keep up http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif! Did Sean from Oz ever get in touch and meet up? Steph Quote:

I'm still around, just haven't checked in for a while. I'm kind of based in London (it's where i keep the bike) but working two weeks at a time on the rigs up in Scotland. I'm distraught about missing the meeting this weekend, but might catch up with you at some stage.
Cheers, Sean |
