St. Petersburg to Murmansk
What is the situation re Cash machines, or paying Diesel with Visa
thinking of crossing back into Norway and Nordkapp, any good advise on that. Thanks, Manfred, in Tallinn |
Cash machines are everywhere in Russia nowadays Manfred.
I never used a credit card to pay for fuel (as I always withdrew cash from my savings account at ATMs along the way) so I can't comment on paying for fuel with a visa card. Have a great journey. :) |
cash or CC
hi manfredschweda as farqhuar said - cash machines are readily available in most major towns. it is much better to get your cash from an ATM than it is to buy things with your CC.
when we were there we had a few times when the bank ATM was out of money yet still put it through as though we had got the cash...no problems however, as we kept all receipts or kept notes if no receipts were issued. and we were re credited with any monies we disputed (obviously with supporting argument) this is much more difficult to do if you use your CC in a variety of gas stations and your CC is used fraudulently. this is a fascinating area to travel through, make sure that you get to ride through some of the smaller towns and villages as you go up to Murmansk. be ready for the huge mosquitoes! |
