Are there any Motorcycle 'Travel hotspot' Campsites or hostels in Italy ???
I'm heading out to Southern Italy (South of Naples) for three weeks in September ?
Are there any well known or well recommended places where bikers or travelers visit ? Anywhere with a cool bar, meeting spots etc ? Thanks in advance. Ted |
Hi mate, surprised you didn't more replies to your post.....Not sure of your route down, but if you go through Switzerland,I'd recommend the Cingue Terre area near Later Spezia as a stop off.Great roads and scenic place.....good out of high season.I guess your going down the west coast, but a division via the Abruzzo national park would be good.South of Napoli you must visit Pomei,Herculaneum,Versuio, plenty of campsites/agritourismo nearby. And as your in the area,go and see what caused the destruction and go to Sicily and a trek up mount Etna.Awesome.Hope this helps you cia

I don't know if this will work
Its a load of campsites in Italy, you can open with Google Earth. Can't even remember where I got them, maybe here? Wayne |
Well my girlfriend is from bologna so she knows italy well but not any if the biker scenes etc.
The agro turismo stuff in Italy is fantastic. I'm so surprised more people don't vist Italy. It has everything a biker/ travller could ever want. |
Presumably you're fly / driving rather than biking out there on the XRL?
I can't really help much with biker hangouts but we've never had any problem with campsites down there - other than the odd one being full in high season around the bay of Naples. The Sorrento peninsula is tourist central and having experienced it once that'll do me. Waiting an hour while two coaches scrape past each other at plate tectonic speeds only to do it again a few miles up the road is not my idea of fun in 35C heat. Likewise the various grottos (lookee lookee, eet's a miracle!) on the circuit as well as Pompeii and Vesuvius. Great scenery though! The amount of building and development on the slopes of Vesuvius makes you wonder what's going to happen next time it erupts. Might be worth a visit then. |
