Hi,
I would advice the following: First get near Kalinovik. From there you have 3 roads leading south. The R433 over the Morine plateau. That´s the one I prefer because it is more open (less trees). The R434 over Zelengora is also very nice but more driving through forrests. And the main road M18 to Foca which goes through Bistrica canyon. From Foca take the M18 / E762 to Hum border crossing. You definitely want to drive the Piva canyon from Hum to Pluzine and then the P14 through Durmitor to Zabljak. Search for these roads/placenames on internet and you will see why. From Zabljak the P4 Tara canyon to Berane. From there the P8 to Peja. Please note the following: You probably would rather choose the M9 from Murino to Peja, but although some internet maps (including google) give you that option, as far as I know, it is not allowed because there is no border crossing on that road. Here a picture of the M9 border. |
thank you for your tips !
I would definitely end up in the same spot on the M9 too.... I had this winding road in mind before I read your tip |
+1 for the Piva Canyon and crossing the Durmitor, great ride along the M3 to get to Tara Canyon.
If it's still the same, the road into the Durmitor used to be just through the Border Checkpoint then you turn right into the Tara Canyon skirting the southern side of the Tara river.I had no issues getting through, I just told them where I was going. I visited the Sušičko jezero (lake) in the Durmitor but is was a dried out, but still a great place to visit. Photos and the likes are on my Balkans ride report, it may give you other ideas. I am not sure of the road names anymore as I lost all my route snapshots when Flickr got bought out. https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hu...er-first-83799 Also worth a stop is Budva, there used to be a bikers bar on the outskirts which was a great place for food and a drink, I came through the Lovcen National park, also a good ride. https://beerbikeclub.me/ Wayne |
