Turkey and Europe
We are in Sochi, Russia and taking a ferry to Tarbzon, Turkey. from there we are driving to Istanbul and cross in Europe.
Anybody can give us fast route to Istanbul from Tarbzon please? Time is an issue with us as we spent too much time in Russia. Our goal is to go to England via France. any help on faster route will be highly appriciated. Thanks in advance arun arun@drivearoundtheworld.net |
what is thread #2 ????
anyway, the answer of your question is, follow the Black Sea cost from Trabzon to İstanbul. The best and shortest way is this route. Trabzon-Samsun-Havza-Merzifon-Gümüşhacıköy-Dodurga-Tosya-Ilgaz-Kurşunlu-Çerkeş-Gerede. In Gerede take the Istanbul Motorway. That's it. İt will take something like 15 hours from Trabzon to İstanbul. I have just visited your web. Do you travel by car/bike or just the public Transportation? There are busses and planes from Trabzon to Istanbul. have fun ps: totaly agree with Vaufi on European route. |
To complete the route:
The shortest (don't know whether the fastest) would be from Istanbul via Bulgaria/Sofia, Serbia/Beograd etc. This is the old "Autoput". A pain to ride. Lots of cops :nono: IMO the fastest would be to make a bee-line for Greece/Thessaloniki and across the Pindos mts. via Ioannina to Igoumenitsa on the westcoast of Greece. Partly good motorway. A day or day & half ride. Then take a ferry either to Italy/Ancona or better to Venice (25 hrs from Igoumenitsa). After a pleasant nights rest zoom down the motorways of northern Italy into France. Stick to the motorways in France & Italy. The normal roads are very time-consuming. PS.: A case of "See Europe in 5 days" :eek3: Hans |
