Turkey insurance question
Planning a trip through Turkey next year. My insurance co will not cover me. Can I buy insurance at the border? If so, how much?

Merhaba,
Sure you can..best place is T.T.O.K. Turkish touring and automobile club offices which are available at all land border gates. Have a nice trip. http://www.turing.org.tr/tr/burolar.asp |
It is a simple and reasonably inexpensive (about 10 Euro, I think) process to get a 'green card' endorsed for Turkey when you cross the border with your motorcycle into Turkey.
It's not a fast process, though... make sure you have all your papers in order, and anticipate about 45 minutes to cross the border, do all the paperwork, get the insurance, and so forth. There's a description of my own experience doing this (back in 2011) at this post: Notes from a September 2011 ride through Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Greece. Michael |
Hi, I crossed the Turkish border from the direction of Alexandroupolis,Greece.
The insurance set me back 30 euros and I purchased it in a small office in the duty free bulding. There maybe cheaper ways by organising it before the trip but I just went for the convenience of getting it at the border. It can take around an hour at this border crossing to get through by my experience. |
