UK Reg bike, AUS licence
Howdy
Help a poor convict out? My son is living in UK and has a motorbike. If I fly from Aus with my Aus licence and international licence, how far can I go in Europe before the bike not being in my name becomes an issue? Cheers Homer. |
As far as you like, if you have a notarized authorization to cross a border with the bike. Think how a UK driver of a leased car would go to Europe while the car is owned by the bank.
Your Aus license is valid for your entire tourist stay in Europe, as it would be if you rented a car. |
I suggest getting an IDP as well. It's cheap and will get you out of possible problems in a few places (for example, we needed our IDP in Czechia). In all probability you will not need it at all, however it's better to have and not need, than not have and need.

Thanks. That’s a relief.

You can go as far as you have insurance for or in case your sons insurance can be extended onto you as a non UK resident.
This is coming from insurance specialist that provides coverage in the UK market for motorcycle tour operators. Be very careful with your steps as insurance is the first thing to have it sorted, the IDP and the rest comes after in case you can get coverage. There are some issues with above suggestions/advises as they are mixing physical person that is non UK resident with UK resident using car under lease outside of the UK. These 2 things have zero relation whatsoever. Be very careful which information here on HUBB can be trusted as you can get in huge trouble very fast. BR dooby |
