Vatican - is it possible to get into it with the bike?
Is it possible to get into the Vatican by bike?
I know that Peter & Kay Forwood managed to do so years ago - but it was a close thing. Just with both tires on the area of the Vatican for a moment or something like that. This thread is not about "does it make sence". I just want to know, if it can be done. How do I have to imagine the gates/entry? Cheers Panny |
I assume that you mean the Vatican city, and not the vatican as in the inside of that big cathedral thing.
Security is kind of tight these days but I remember that the streets adjacent to st peters square are accessible by bike ; anything underneath the columns in the picture is already technically the territory of the vatican state, and I can see enough space to be able to ride in for the time it takes to snap a couple of pictures, before the police car up the road bothers to turn up to do something about it......( or most likely doesn't ). http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...251e391294.jpg |

You are talking of a picture. Which one do you mean or was it meant in general meaning? Cheers Panny |

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...59bb887b94.jpg It's a Google earth screenshot of Largo del colonnato, a Street that goes right around some of St Peter's square. The main pedestrian access is just a little bit further up and there's usually a police car there. come to think of it I'm about 88 % sure that if you ask them nicely they will let you put your wheels on the square and take some pictures....
