Vignette in Hungary
Hi,
Went through Hungary today (Slovakia - Romania) and noticed something some of the non-motorways require vignette - on the 46 (green sign) there was a wan which checked vignette's. At the border I was told it wasn't needed to have a vignette to pass Hungary on B roads, well there are B-roads, and then there are B-roads:nono: Casper |
Thx mate, that's new indeed. 4 years ago the vignette was only necessary for the motorways....

Hey there,
Went through Hungary a couple of weeks ago, they don't make it obvious where to buy the vignette or what it specifically covers. It was €8 for four days (the minimum time they'll sell one for) on the bike, not sure what that equates to in Hungarian fl. Gibs |
Last year on our travels Hungary was the country where there seemed to be very little information on the vignette or where to buy one, we were sent from the kiosk inside a shop at the border (where they were selling them to car drivers) to a booth outside where we got 2 different vignette's both costing the same and a receipt to show any police officer - very odd.
It was the country I was most uneasy and pleased to leave but only due to the odd way the vignette was handled not the country itself. |

I was in Hungary last week-Lake Balaton. Did not bother with a vingnette. I found the place great-the people are different though!

Travelled through 2 years ago from Romania, bought mine at the border in a little office. It only cost about 5 euros and got a little receipt. No problems and spend about 4 days on the motorways and other roads. Did see the vans checking registration numbers on the motorways. :cool4:

I was there a couple of weeks ago, agree the vignette situation is totally confusing, the last information I heard was that it doesn't apply to bikes, same as Romania.
I ride an f650gs and at times assume all bikes have somewhere convenient like a front fairing to attach the vignette - of course most dont so I think they just dont bother requiring it. |
It does apply to bikes - but really cheap. Always get one as they do spot checks without warning pulling everyone off the highway and the fine is big.... they can take credit cards now. You dont get a sticker anymore ...just a reciept!! keep it!!

That's right. No more sticker just a receipt. You can buy it at any petrol station |
:confused1:Do you need these vignettes in any other European countries? I going thro Estonia, Latvia , Lithuania , Poland, Czech Rep, Austria and others.
|
TO chef jules, Vignette Is Required for Motorways in Austria, CZ and Slovenia. Slovenia cost is 7.5 Euro for 1 week. Available at petrol stations. I never used the Motorway in Austria as other roads were so good, CZ Motorways are few.
Hope this helps. |
Thanks Roadruns, yes useful info . I too wont be using M ways in Austria. Looks like I am gonna get away with buying any. ! less expense.

Have a great trip. All the best :mchappy:
