Haydn Durnell

It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Haydn Durnell recently.

Haydn & his wife Dianne have been travellers in the adventure motorcycling community for many years, having travelled on both Harley Davidson motorbikes and then a BMW (1200GSA). Originally from Rhodesia, they migrated to Australia in the 1980's.

In 2004/05, Haydn & Dianne rode North to South, from Alaska to the southern tip of South America on his Harley. By the time of their trip in 2007, through South-East Asia to India, Middle East to Syria & Turkey, they had swapped over to a "Beemer".

Sometime after returning to Australia, Haydn & Dianne found themselves living in Samoa where Haydn helped set up a Technical College. He also taught there, until coming back and settling down in highlands of Northern NSW in 2012. They had many fond memories of their time in Samoa.

In 2023, they relocated to Pottsville, which is one of many picturesque towns set between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay, but sadly Haydn didn't get to enjoy the beachside living long enough before his health went downhill.

Haydn will be remembered for his love of travel - whether on a motorbike or not. He was happy to share his experiences with fellow like-minded travellers wherever he met them.

Our thoughts are with Dianne and their family in this sad time.

Really sorry to hear that. Haydn and Dianne stayed with me after their South American trip in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Hopefully Dianne is doing well.
