clutch basket repair

my clutch is dragging and I want to take it out and file of the burrs as Ive been told. this will apparently cure the problem but how can you file the burrs.

The angle isn't great and I don't want to do too much as I'll ruin it. any special file which I can use??

This is an old trick, and isn't as hard as it sounds. Use a fine / smooth file.

You just want to make a smoother surface for the clutch plates to move across. DO try and file approximately equal amounts off all hub tangs so that you end up with the clutch tangs even against the hub tangs.

There should be no "angle" except 90 degrees.

thanks, think i know what you mean and the only files i havce are quite large and square.
Is there a diagrame anywhere on the web? if not I'll give it a go anyway and hope for the best.

large and square is good! Ideal file is the full depth/width of the clutch basket tangs, helps to prevent creating valleys. A smooth file has fine teeth, doesn't cut as fast as a coarse file but leaves a smooth finish, which is what you want.
