Fuel Pump needed for AT RD04 tank on Transalp?
Hi there,
This may be a totally stupid question to those of you who are iniated: Have just purchased on ebay an Africa Twin RD04 fuel tank to put on my 1987 Transalp PD06. Do I require a fuel pump like the RD07s have? My standard Transalp tank is only 18 litres and completely above the level of the carbs, so it is gravity fed. Some of the 23 (or is it 24?) litre RD04 tank must sit below the carbs? Ta, in advance for any advice. ChrisB ------------------ TheBrightStuffDotCom |
Hi Chris
The AT RD04 is 26 liters and also requires a fuel pump like the RD07(23lts), you can put the original, the Mikuni vacuum ones, and also any from Yamaha (like the SuperTenere and others) can fit. If you don’t put the pump maybe it will be the same like whit the TA tank. Simon Kennedy has also a TA whit a AT tank but until he left the Americas he used without. www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/kennedy/cat_techy_bike_stuff.php Javier… [This message has been edited by javkap (edited 21 March 2005).] |
Cheers for the reply. Left this msg in 1 or 2 other places. The summary is: Yes you need a pump for the juice below the level of the carbs and the Mikuni vacuum/Yamaha xtz660 will do the job. Electric Af twin pumps are dodgy.
